trimmed and registered!

When I started at the Center for Book Arts, the first piece of equipment I saw was not 1 but 2 large board shears. They are incredible. Apparently, Paul Brubaker comes 1x a year with tools to square it up…

Here are some of the sheets with deckled edges (I chopped 2 sides off so I could register the multiple passes more reliably), and Lee’s pigment chips for deciding how to color the paper.

Here are a few notes as I was registering… notably, I went thru 16 sheets of newsprint to get it all aligned properly.

Looking under a loop (magnifying glass) I was getting halos from too much ink.

I added magnesium carbonate (chalk) to stiffen the ink. That gave me a crisp edge, however, the color was grey. Cleaned up and went home. Will try again today. Roni and Lee both think I need to add more ink.
