Since I used Weiss bold and regular, a serif font, they have two different surface areas which affects the clarity of the printing. Bold has MORE surface area and it was over inking. So I’ve been using the UNI III Vandercook Press and was able to register the red color quite quickly. Anna suggested I use a q-tip to apply pigment to a translucent piece of paper to get a sense of the printing color. Here are my first two registration passes. And the stack moving from only black to black & red.

Paper!

So Lee made me some beautiful cotton and flax fiber paper on a 12×18 laid mold. It took her a week to make 225 sheet (beating the fiber, mixing the pigment, pulling the paper, couching the sheet, drying the paper). I love it. Now I’m cleaning it. It takes me 4 hours to clean 50 sheets.
